Camera DOWN - blog giveaway!!!

My camera has been put in it's final resting place. Can't say this was the first time, but it was dropped and this time with fatalities. So, next week is camera shopping week. I would love to hear suggestions on what kind of camera you have and what you love about it. Make sure you list your name in your comment and I will use a random selector on Friday, the 19th, to pull a number!

Oh, the prize, a stamp set! Of course, I can't take a picture of it, but I actually have about 15 different ones which have never been opened or assembled, so I'll let the winner choose!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Edited to add - the random selector chose the number 1! Jen, I sent you a message!
And as much as I wish I could get the Canon Rebel (and afford it!) I chose a Sony Cybershot. There were a few recommendations on it and it was rated the highest in Consumer Reports. Hopefully I can get some new posts and picts up soon!

Hi Amy!

Well, I have two cameras - my "big" one with different lenses is a Canon digital Rebel XTi. Love it! But, it's big and bulky and I don't like to carry it everywhere. So, I also have a small camera - a Sony Cyber Shot. Both take good pictures. The only problem with the Sony is that it eats batteries! So, I went rechargeable. I'd recommend both, and yes, I've dropped both and they still survive!
Good luck with your search and let me know if you want more info!

I have a Canon Powershot. It's an older model with only 5 mp's, but after using Kodak for years, I would choose a Canon in a heartbeat. The color is 'true-er' and the features that come on their cameras are easy to manuver. I'm jealous of Jen and anyone else that has the Rebel. That's my dream camera! In the meantime, I do think I'll be upgrading to the 8 mp powershot in the near future. Good luck with your decision.

Like Kathy, I have a Canon PowerShot. I got it for Mother's Day last year and I like it. It has image stabilization which I love and face recognition which is another bonus.

I've had three digitals over the year. My favorite was my first an Olympus. Took great pictures, very true colors. But I've heard the new ones aren't as good. I had a Nikon in the middle that I never liked.

I'd love a Rebel too.

Good Luck with your decision!

My camera is a Kodak Z812 IS. It has 8.1 megapixels and 12x zoom with image stabilizer. It's a nice "in between" camera. Not a small one that doesn't zoom well, but also not an expensive, more professional one that you are afraid to take on vacation for fear of losing it or having it get broken. I have had it for a year and have loved it. I love the Kodak EasyShare software it comes with on my computer. Very fun. I bought it at Costco. It has everything I need and takes beautiful pictures with great zoom that at times look professional. (My last camera was a Nikon. It was ok, but not great and the battery compartment door actually broke after a year or so of use.) Hope that helps! Happy shopping!

Hey Ames! Mine is a Kodak Easy Share V1253. It has 12.0 megapixels and a decent zoom quality. Also takes several minutes of video. I absolutely love it. It's small enough that I can tuck it into my purse (and it fits perfectly into the new little SU camera case I bought in Memento Mall at Convention this year). It doesn't have batteries, it plugs into the wall, which I love, because I HATE buying batteries!! I got it for around $300 at Best Buy but I've seen similar models at Costco for comparable prices. If I were as smart as Micki about photography, I would get one like hers, but hey I'm not very techno on SLR digitals....

That's my 2 cents worth. How's that cardmaking going????

Not sure what your budget is, but I just got a GREAT point and shoot that is small enough to fit in my purse that I just LOVE... it's about $300. Got it at Circuit City. Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. It's 9MP and has 10x optical zoom. It replaced my DMC-TZ1 that finally has given up after several years of hard service! LOL! Can't wait to see what you get!
